Volleyball Rules & Formats
Match Point Social is dedicated to ensuring everyone understands the volleyball rules and formats we follow. We base our guidelines on USAV rules, with specific modifications for s league play to enhance the gameplay experience. Additionally, we’ll provide a clear outline of our league formats, organized by day, to help participants know what to expect This ensures a fun and competitive environment for all players involved.
Match Point Social League Structure
We believe in MORE PLAY as our motto, and we have created this program to continue the system of play many players have been accustomed to over the last few years. We know players live all over Metro Denver, so driving 30 minutes in traffic for 45-50 minutes of play is not worth it! NO Annual Membership fees to simply register or play!! We aim to not provide a greater experience for your time. To ensure that you have a better league experience, all our leagues will be structured as 2 Matches/Night (25, 25, 15) x2 and must fit within the 7:15 PM - 9:15 PM and 9:15 PM - 11:15 PM. As such, we plan to offer 8 WEEKS (16 matches) of league play and an end of season tournament to decide the league winner. Since we know we have more availability with the late games, we plan to host social events or specials regularly at 7 PM, so please come early and hang out with us! More information will be announced via league emails, and this social network program will grow over time!
The end of season tournament will be structured very differently from other volleyball programs. Our EOS will be set up with all the teams coming at specific time and playing a round robin of 1 game to 25 against each team in the league division at the end of the season. The finals will be structured based on seed with strength of power matches (1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6, etc) with seed 1 v 2 playing for the championship and prizes. For example if there are 8 teams in the league division, a team would play 7 games that day regardless (no knock out) and then 1 finals game (or match depending on time).
We also are planning to have mixers and social events planned for our league members!
Our intention to keep a cohesive volleyball experience, and we absolutely hate being forced to sign up for so many leagues in the summer during fake spring (snow/rain in Mar-May), so we will offer 3 indoor league seasons and then take a 2 week break before Grass League season! This year, we plan to offer grass leagues on multiple days around Denver Metro, AND we plan to do 1 grass season (10 weeks) from end of May to August (peak sunlight and vibes!) rather than play rain/mud ball and darkness volleyball.
The best part with our grass league is that with only 1 season, teams and players are still able to sign up for ALL summer EOS grass tournaments independently or it is free if you are in one of their leagues already on Volleyballlife! More information of our grass leagues will come as the summer progresses!

Facility & Indoor Volleyball Rules
To ensure that you have a better league experience, all our leagues will be structured as 2 Matches/Night (25, 25, 15) x2 and must fit within the 7:15 PM - 9:15 PM and 9:15 PM - 11:15 PM slots. If there is extra time, teams are welcome to continue playing on assigned courts until 11:30 PM. Players joining Boomtown Drop-in need to pay a separate fee. We expect everyone to behave with decorum and respect to players, staff, and everyone in general. The league email will have explicit rules, anyone not following this will be banned from all future programs and events.
Our volleyball base rule set will be based off of USAV 2025 rules with some modified rules for 4s. There will be no no girl rule. To ensure we have competitive games, teams may move up or down divisions based on weekly performance. We cannot always guarantee an equal number of early games vs late games, but we will try our best in terms of court space availability. Our goal is for you is to play more! As such, we will have End of Season Tournaments, and we will provide details in the league email.
We will need you to read and obey all the facility rules on the Boomtown Athletics Rules. Due to facility scheduling and other programs in place, do not go onto the courts until the appropriate time as other groups are renting it. Please do not pepper or throw balls in the corridor. You are welcome to stretch and move in the corridors, but please do not throw objects as this is a danger to people in the area. Please note all leagues need to begin play immediately at 7:15 PM, and games need to start play no later than 9:20 PM to ensure we finish on time. The game will end with winner defaulted to whoever has the most points at the appointed time, so please get started on-time to maximize your play time.
